Funding & Referrals

Medicare Rebates

Our Psychologists are registered Medicare Providers, which means that anyone with a referral from their GP for a Mental Health Treatment Plan will receive a subsidy for Psychology sessions per calendar year. Please contact us for information on individual therapist rebates and out of pocket fees. For further information of Medicare rebates, please click here.

For the remainder of the calendar year, Private Health Insurance can then be used after the 10 Medicare sessions.

Private Health Insurance

Many private health policies provide cover for Psychological services, with some including counselling services from Clinical Counsellors and Psychotherapists. For more information about what you may be covered for, please check with your personal Private Health Insurance policy provider. Here are some of the major providers:

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Many organisations have an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) available to their employees. The EAP is a work-based intervention program that supports the emotional, mental and psychological wellbeing of all employees within the workplace and includes services for immediate family members. This program provides subsidised, confidential therapy with a registered external provider. The rebate amount provided through the EAP is typically the equivalent of a Medicare rebate for Clinical Psychology, but can vary by organisation. If you would like to arrange an EAP agreement with your workplace to begin or continue sessions with our therapists, please contact us and we can help you to arrange this process. The EAP can typically be used after Medicare and Private Health Insurance funding has been exhausted.

Chronic Disease Management

Chronic Disease Management (formally Extended Primary Care) is a Medicare rebate funded care plan for people who have been clinically diagnosed by a medical doctor with chronic conditions. This can include mental health conditions deemed to be (or likely to be) ongoing for 6 months or longer. For more information on Chronic Disease Management, please click here.

Tax Deduction

If the therapy provided to you by our team of Psychologists and Counsellors is related to your personal professional development, you may be able to claim your out of pocket expenses as a tax deduction, per financial year. Please visit the ATO website here or refer to an Australian taxation professional or for advice.

Other Government Supported Rebates

Selected psychologists within our team provide services for the following claims:

  • NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme)

  • DVA (Department of Veterans Affairs)

  • Workers Compensation claims

Please call 1300 187 448 or send an email to support@sentient.global for more information.

Other Options

Some of our therapists also offer a sliding scale fee structure, offering reduced fees upon request and assessment of need. The sliding scale structure can be offered on a case by case basis. Please contact us for more information.
