"I am a trauma-informed therapist and UTS researcher exploring how human–animal relationships shape mental well-being"
Who I support
I am a grief and trauma therapist based in Sydney. Having grown up in Singapore, I am particularly interested in working with people navigating grief, identity, displacement and the many losses that can accompany change and transitions.
I understand that loss is not only about death. Sometimes it is the loss of a relationship, a sense of self, a role, a future we imagined or a version of life we once knew.
Many of the clients I work with, at our clinic, are outwardly capable and successful, yet internally exhausted, overwhelmed or carrying unresolved grief and/or trauma.
Therapy offers a space of care and safety - without needing to hold everything alone, or all at once.
Who I often work with:
-
Women & Gender-Diverse Professionals: I often work with women - including transgender women and members of the LGBTQ+ community - navigating one or more of the following:
-
Workplace stress, burnout and emotional exhaustion.
-
Navigating work and daily life as a neurodivergent person, including experiences relating to ADHD and autism.
-
Identity exploration and feelings of not being “enough”.
-
Relationship difficulties and attachment-related challenges.
-
The ongoing impact of past trauma on work and relationships.
-
-
Veterinary & Animal Care/Protection Workers: A significant part of my work supports those working in animal care and protection. This work carries unique psychological demands, including:
-
Compassion fatigue and the emotional weight of continual caregiving.
-
Moral distress and feeling unable to prevent suffering or act in line with one’s values.
-
Grief and trauma associated with euthanasia and end-of-life care.
-
For certain clients, I may use structured modalities such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).
In other instances, I draw on more exploratory approaches such as Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Narrative Therapy (NT). I also incorporate spiritual and existential perspectives into client sessions, where relevant.
My approach is grounded in respect, allowing room for deep exploration.
I aim to create a safe, non-judgemental space for reflection, meaning-making and growth.
Understanding Trauma Therapy
A trauma therapist is trained to help people process and heal from distressing life experiences. In practice, this means creating a safe, supportive space where the impact of trauma on thoughts, emotions, and the body can be understood, worked through, and gradually transformed into resilience and growth.
